Space X is to launch yet another rocket into space from south east Texas, U.S.A.
These well publicized events prey on the already overloaded psyches of those who believe in never ending human progress. They feed the never ending yearning of vacant hearts to fulfill a vacuum, an emptiness left by the absence of a connection to Nature, our reality. The same attitude that puts space travel on a pedestal also glorifies the almost fanatical belief in electric vehicles, wind turbines, solar arrays, sail powered ocean freighters and sustainable aviation fuels to power the never ending quest of human progress. Ironically the only human progress being made is that of moving further and further from sanity as the culture continues to turn a blind eye to the reality of the limits to growth.
These rockets of delusion are symbolic of a blinkered culture that refuses to face reality. As it continues to collapse it will rally with an increasingly insane intent for a saviour to restore what it thinks were its glory days, that of unbridled consumption without consequence, anthropocentricity without boundaries. Nature of course has the final say however much they want to fight and deny it with fanatical politics and religion whether that be conservative or progressive, two sides of the same coin of human-centeredness.
The zealous scramble for so-called renewable energy is pursued under the guise of sustainability and green politics. The proponents rarely point out the destruction caused by its production and use. Electric cars still drive on roads that are built in ever increasing numbers to provide for the ever expanding human population into other creatures habitats.
The whole psychology behind the so-called renewable energy brigade is that of continued mass consumption in the same mold as that of fossil fuel consumption. It is a one on one swap in a world of increasing pollution, mass non-human extinctions, diminishing resources and human over-population all the while dealing with increasing geological limits and erratic weather conditions.
This cultures education system continues to promote the narrative of human superiority and alienation from Nature while churning out children disengaged with reality and the unfolding situation of global collapse in both civilization and the biological world, giving them no skills whatsoever to even begin to cope with anything other than the freak show circus we have brought them into.
People can point to me and say I sit here using a computer and probably have a drivers license. Yes this is true, however I was born into a world that provided me with a woefully inadequate education in truth and reality and it wasn’t until I got older that I saw this culture for what it really was, a culture that believes in delusions. So much had been plundered and there was no return to a hunter-gatherer lifestyle, which is really the only truly sustainable culture. With the avenues of living outside of civilization cutoff in the meantime I lived and continue to live with as little impact as possible fully understanding I too live in and witness the unfolding collapse around me with the knowledge that the fires of delusion burn brightly all about me. To educate and inform one sadly needs to live, even a little amount, within the culture to be effective, even to a small extent.
Rather than wallow in the depravity of this culture or worship its ideals we need to spend our remaining days with positive intent and love to all our non-human kin and this wonderful planet that gave and continues to give us so much. Rather than waste our lives in a frenzied pursue of something that can and will never be attained we need to get back to simplicity, back to connection and back, ultimately to our true selves.
